Chapter - 02 : Never Complain About Others!

7:30pm, 6th July, 2002
Seegodu
(6th B Classroom)

(four girls were playing game in the back benches in the study hour..)

Just a week had passed since we entered the Navodaya gate. We were little bit aware of the daily routine in the school. Home snacks were getting exhausted like ice creams in a sunny day.
It was quite chilly evening. It was even raining outside.
Point to be mentioned is that many had already lost their umbrellas!!
Even many teachers loose them since everyone had the habit of forgetting the umbrella in the dinner hall or in academic building.

Coming back to the present we were having study hours from 6:30pm to 8:00pm which was followed by dinner. Manjunath sir was on duty.
It was around 7:35pm and I had no home work or an assignment to do. Adarsh H P was sitting next to me. I was looking all everyone possible in the classroom since  I was jobless and I found few girls playing a game with chits.
I was whispering about  the same to Adarsh, and at the same time sir came into the  class.
I had heard that is very strict.
Sir: Stand up!
       (I gave a puzzled look)
yeah, you both of you!! what were you talking about in this study hour?
Adarsh: sir, we... we..
Me: Sir, (showing my hand towards girls from last benches) they were playing chits. So ..
Sir: so what?
(slapped with his wide and rough hands to both of us :( we lowered our  heads down)
Why are you bothered about girls? keep yourself to your work and study. Don't complain about others. We know it to take care.
(he didn't say a word to those who were playing)
After that incident, the whole night what was going through my mind was that whether talking in the class was a big sin or playing in the study hour.
Sounds of raindrops took over the concentration of my mind and I fell asleep in my upper bed.
So that was the last time I complained about girls to any teacher in my life.. :P

Chapter - 01: And thats how it began...

31st June,2002

"Write multiplication table for 13" principal said to me. I had come for admission for 6th standard in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Chikmagalur.
I didn't know that principal was going  to give such a  small task or may be he didn't know  that it was an easy task for me :P. Anyway I finished writing it in few seconds for which I have to thank Kumarswamy Sir who taught maths in primary  education.

I was accompanied by my dad who left the choice for me to choose or not to choose a residential school. Umamaheshwar was another classmate who got selected along with me to this so called "Navodaya Vidyalaya".
Since he was shorter compared to me, principal assigned me upper berth and lower berth to him in Nilgiri house.

As a fact there were four houses-  Aravali, Nilgiri, Shivalik and Udyagiri. All 80 students of  each batch were split almost  equally into these four houses.

"No fights or masti inside the dormitories. ok Students? "
"Yes Sir."
"Ok then, you people can go and arrange your belongings in your respective houses and  can come for lunch at 1:30pm sharp. you  can leave now."

Looking at parents, principal said "you can leave and don't worry about your children. we will take care of them. "

All parents left in the evening. I could see some friends crying near gates. Also i could imagine some mothers crying at their homes..
